Ed Bats is a Wellington based artist working in painting, collage, sculpture and installation. Primarily focusing on minimalist abstraction, their paintings and collage explores vigorous reworking and reductions to create textural voids while his sculptures and installation work is more focused on the banality of discarded ready-mades and every day objects. The end results could be described as hybrids of recognisable objects devoid of practicality. Recent exhibitions include Open Eye Signal, Fort Delta, Melbourne, 2018; Insert Disc 2, Parlour Projects, Hastings, 2018; Old Bak Ache, State Gallery, Auckland, 2017 & The Smallest Weird Number, Gallery9, Sydney, 2017.
Tyler Jackson is an Wellington-based artist and facilitator at play_station. Their practice explores the idea of seeing light and space and the aesthetic intrinsic relationship between industrial minimalist materiality versus the immateriality of light and colour. Recent projects include: Between the beach and the lounge, Biquini Wax EPS, Mexico City, 2018; Traces: the part encodes the whole, [tacit] gallery, Hamilton, 2018; Modulators | Reliefs, Precinct 35, Wellington, 2017 & Light – Space Corridor, play_station, Wellington, 2017;
