Mōhou tēnei this is for you
Turumeke Harrington
17/04/19 – 30/04/19

Mōhou tēnei this is for you is the latest installation from recent Wellington returnee, artist and designer Turumeke Harrington.

Much like it's predecessor Hey māmā come play with me, it is a playful and inviting sculptural playground, engaging audiences in small moments of respite from daily life.
It's conception is founded in thinking about 'What makes art right?' and chasing this feeling of correct and validation for her own making practice, one with roots firmly in the world of design; parameters, specifications and constraints.

Working at the intersection between design and art, Harrington explores ideas of craft and whakapapa in contemporary Māori practice and considers the lifespan of an artwork as a measure for success; where do works go to die? Can they have another life? Works presented have been shown before, in different configurations and respond to this new context along side new works.

Harrington dedicates this show to her young daughter,
mōhou tēnei this is for you.
