Learner Lover began with an expired license and a breakup but ended with a boyfriend and his car. Along with the renewal of her driver's license came a renewal of Ming's license to love. A heartbreak is healing. Some refer to the water in the Whanganui river as the mimi of Tongariro. Nature's own urine therapy. Everything is recycling, regenerating, transmuting and transforming. Sometimes things are gross before they are good.

The theme of new beginnings continues for Ming through her ability to turn even the most utilitarian to impractical, and the most mundane to gaudy.

Ming Ranginui (Te Ati Haunui-a-Pāpārangi) was born and currently resides in Whanganui and has recently completed an MFA at Massey University.

Ming spends her time in the passenger seat of her boyfriend’s car, looking for signs from the universe. Painted on the back of mainfreight trucks are affirmations that she is headed in the right direction, 11:11 - “Desire becomes surrender. Surrender becomes power.” which also coincides with a reading that she got confirming that 2021 is the year of surrender. Why learn to drive when the Universe has taken the wheel?
