Book, Ladder, an eight hour improvised performance installation. The work was influenced by endurance art traditions and Ankoku Butoh and considers the relationship between a queered sense of time and institutional spaces.
Hamish is a queer, Pākehā artist and dance researcher based in Tāmaki Makaurau. Originally from Whakatū, Hamish graduated from the New Zealand School of Dance in 2015 with a major in contemporary dance and is currently completing their Master of Dance Studies at the University of Auckland. Hamish’s research and practice draws on queer theory to explore queer populations and meanings within dance. Their practice encompasses performance and durational art as well as drawing and bookmaking.
The performance took place for 8 hours from 12 PM – 8 PM
