fixed-term
Huni Mancini
19/06/19 - 13/07/19

Opened Wednesday 19th June from 5.30pm

fixed-term’ documents Huni Mancini's experience as a fixed-term Library Assistant at the Fine Arts Library, Elam School of Fine Arts, during the period March 2018-March 2019.

In June 2018 the University announced the Library’s closure along with the Architecture & Planning and Music Libraries despite much protest nationwide and internationally. The closures signal a move away from public to private information spaces, and the precarity of libraries in the face of wider political and economic forces.

Through the interplay of six new works, ‘fixed-term’ will explore the role of the document in representing histories where there is no longer a thread of continuity, but rather a fracture, a discontinuity, the mark of which is obliteration, erasure and amnesia.
