Box Wine Bladder

Eilish Dwyer

09.05.24 – 01.06.24

Opening Wednesday 8 May 5:30pm

Examining the patterns of flea bites, the placement of cleaning products, and humble bric-à-brac, the paintings in Eilish Dwyer’s Box Wine Bladder depict private moments contained within the walls of her home. Dwyer collects images using her iPhone, documenting rituals of grooming and socialising. By turning these moments into paintings, Dwyer invites us to consider their intimacy— scrutinising the significance of arrangements within the home.

Eilish Dwyer (b. 1996) is a painter from Te Papaioea, now based in Tāmaki Makaurau. Dwyer makes autobiographical paintings based on iPhone pictures she takes of her day-to-day life. Drawn to intimate moments, Dwyer’s work references bodily functions, domestic settings, and the relationships that play out there. Dwyer completed a Bachelor of Fine Arts at Massey University in 2020. This is her first solo show.
