I fell deep in holes of happiness
Alessia Augello & Amit Noy
06/04/19
I fell into deep holes of slow motion. I am warm and my body allowed itself to get confused. I became softer + more engaged with the air and space around me. Getting lost in the overwhelming nature of the lengthy duration. BEING it is the most important goal. I am in a place without words and I got there by dancing. Gripping bodies sliding clothes. The seams of your skin open and the grace of another body allows for the absolution of those seams. Their flesh pours into yours and I imagine your flesh pours into theirs. Things are happening all the time and just because we don’t acknowledge them doesn’t mean they’re less important.
Amit Noy and Alessia Augello are two emerging performing artists currently studying contemporary dance at the New Zealand School of Dance. They have had the opportunity to be taught and mentored by James O’Hara, whose ideas on dance as playful pursuit were a catalyst for this performance. Last year, Alessia performed in Huang Yi’s work ‘Wicked Fish’, and is currently in the process of making a work for the school’s choreographic season in May.
Alessia and Amit played with exhaustion, dance music, and contact improvisation through a 50-minute progression.
