Renovation Fund

Kia Ora! play_station gallery is a non-for-profit artist run space that facilitates contemporary and conceptual art practices in Te Whanganui-a-Tara.

Since opening in 2016, we’ve shown over 40 exhibitions of local and international artists, as well as hosted countless artist talks, dance shows, life drawing classes, book launches and performance workshops.

2019 marks a new period for play_station as we move from our 8 Egmont Street gallery to 233 Willis Street. This move gives us a bigger space with better facilities, and also means we’re wheel chair accessible.

But the most exciting part of this move is that we’ll be incorporating studio spaces into play_station. This brings a lot of new exciting but possibilities for play_station, but also a more sustainable model for keeping our ARI open and running.

With the move comes considerable financial hurdles - we need to cover the cost of renovating our new gallery and studios, along with our bond and advanced rental payments. As a non-for-profit organisation, we struggle to front the cash for this ourselves. We need your help!

By contributing to our renovation fund you’ll help us prepare the space for our studio artists and the gallery for our first show in February 2019. With your help we can continue supporting emerging New Zealand artists here in Te Whanganui-a-Tara.

Below is a link if you wish to donate. Every dollar counts in getting the gallery and studios ready for this new exciting step for play_station, and bringing a dynamic and critical programme to the capital.

Love,

The team at play_station
