The Batman lives in 2024, he’s a warrior for social justice and the defender against bigotry. He’s a hero, he’s an ally, a minority and a single father. Asian Batman Saves Wellington invites you into his space, it calls upon you: TO THE BAT-CAVE!
The Batman comes to Wellington in an immersive multi-media reconstruction of the Bat-Cave. Asian Batman Saves Wellington is an extension of Francis’ original project: Bat-Computer. It features a redesigned version of the work, as well as, new collaborative work with Cailin Rogers and Stewart Osteen, and a commissioned work by Thomas Strawbridge.
Francis Del Rosario is a Filipino artist based in Te-Whanganui-a-Tara. He recently completed a Bachelor of Fine Arts (Hons) at Massey School of Art, and Asian Batman Saves Wellington is his first solo show. With a practice evolving out of theatre and film, his work mainly centres around video and storytelling, but has recently implemented set design to compliment the narrative, world-building nature of the work.
