Application Outline:
What you need:
-Personal details: (Name, postal address, email address, phone number)
-Written Exhibition Proposal: (700 words max) Title, concept and context, outline the physical and/or digital specifics of the project, individual works and equipment required.
-Budget: Indicate what costs may be involved in this project (excluding exhibition fee), i.e freight, framing, specific materials
-Images of proposed artworks if any or renders or working drawings of proposed exhibition.
-Recent works.
-Any adding supporting documents will also be considered.
EXHIBITION AND SUPPORT
The current cost of exhibiting for the main space is
$200 Solo/Duo
$300 Three or more people.
The current cost of exhibiting in the Yellow room is free.
This includes:
-A three and half week public exhibition
-A show facilitator as a point of contact and a coordinator of the space/show
-Design and distribution of an electronic invitation (designed to gallery format)
-Professional photos of exhibition
-Email-out to our electronic database
-Printing of an A0 and A3 colour posters
-The design of an A4 colour online catalogue
-Onsite technical assistance
-Staff for opening night
-Staff to sit the exhibition (Thursday to Saturday)
-Curatorial and professional development advice
-Inclusion in the play_station digital archive
-Assistance connecting exhibiting artists with writers and curators
-Exhibitions are open from 12pm to 5 pm Thursday to Friday and Saturday from 12pm - 3pm.
-Openings are on the first Thursday night of the exhibition period from 6-8pm.
Any artists that seeks to sell artworks should know play_station is a non-for-profit space. Therefore, we do not take commissions from the sale of any artworks, however, we encourage a 15% donation. We do not allow sales stickers or prices to be exhibited on the gallery walls. All artists seeking to sell artworks should include POA indication on artwork list.
Food and beverage at openings will be the responsibility of the exhibitor/s, although, we are constantly looking into beverage sponsorship which may or may not happen.
Artists with financial difficulties are urged to contact the play_station team as soon as possible to discuss alternative payment plans and assistance. The fee is to be paid two weeks prior to installation. In addition to the exhibition fee, a $100 returnable bond will be taken. This amount will be returned after the exhibition concludes providing keys are returned and the space is returned to its original condition.
INSTALLATION AND DE-INSTALLATION
Installation can take place three days prior to the exhibition from 9am and 5pm. Artists with lengthy installations should advise so in the proposal. Quiet installations may continue through the night until 9pm in compliance to noise regulations i.e power tools and construction. Basic tools and materials are provided by play_station, but artists should source any specific hanging requirements. If you have any questions regarding installation or tools, please advise within proposal.
Exhibition deinstallation takes place between 9am to 5pm the Sunday after. As play_station has limited storage we appreciate prompt collection of work. Artists are responsible for any costs associated with the transportation and insurance of artwork.
The play_station team will offer one to two team members to oversee and offer assistance with curatorial support and installation on Monday to Wednesday and to assist with deinstallation on Sunday.

Applications will be assessed by the play_station programming panel consisting of the six board members and four invited artists and curators following the proposal period. We will provide a response as to whether your application was successful by mid December.
